Hey everyone, thought I would do a video on how I would waterproof / make my servo’s water-resistant. Some simple steps that may help prolong the use of your servos. As far as I know Traxxas is the only company that offers a “waterproof” servo. For throttle control or Aux channels they are ok.. but for steering and shifting gears.. the servo’s by Traxxas do not have enough torque, or raw power that’s needed. Especially with reaction times

  6. brenthoser99 says:

i would go to a atv/boat/outdoor motors store and ask if the mechanic has some proper grease for the application. beats buying a big tube when you need a smidge of it on your finger. just remember to bring a little bag or container :D

It was called hammer dip 30 years ago.
I water proofed battery connections on fleet of semi trucks to keep the acid corrosion and maintenance down. Some trucks had 2-4 12volt batteries with huge cables 3/4 inch dia. Tons of work and cost if broke down for silly connection going bad. Just like these RC rigs.

Just wondered at 2:50, after grease is applied, is there room to slip on a thin O-Ring to make it even a tighter water proof seal w/o affecting fit of cover?

The name of Co.escapes me that makes the soft white squishy Teflon O-Ring material.

LPS3 is a spray on I use for 20 years. It turns to a waxy grease, and will protect all electrical. All plugs before matting get the treatment. Servo motor can would like that.
Do you check for leaks in servos after a few runs?
    Cool Stuff as usual.

i did this and now the mount holes are blocked by plast dip, i would drill a hole for the mount screws but hen it wouldent be water proof what do u do?

  21. ninjapimpman says:

Do you have to waterproof the off/on switch too?

  22. djmedic2008 says:

Dont sweat it.. the plastidip adheres to most surfaces. The drill holes will not harm it

  23. djmedic2008 says:

It depends on the Servo my friend.. a lot of these servos may already have an o ring as a seal. My T.Assoc DS1015 servo had one

  24. djmedic2008 says:

I put some non conducting, dielectric great into the switch.. water wont really effect it though with out.. It may cause some corrosion.. thats why i use the grease

  25. Philscbx says:

Just spin the screw through with cordless.
